I am toying with the idea of buying one of these for the wife and I as a weekend getaway play car.

It is either this or a slightly used vette.

I am open for opinions, I hope I dont regret this statement.

I think they're cool. Have you looked in the trunk though. Not much room for anything but a lunch box in there even with the top up. I've been looking around for a small and sporty scoot as a 3rd car for my better half since she succumbed to the minivan 4 yrs ago. I actually haven't ruled out the Solstice, mostly interested b/c of price.I'd really like to find a deal on G35 coupe though.

I just sent my preferred dealer my option list on a GXP.

Yes I did look in the trunk, a makeup bag on one side and small duffle on the other. That is it.

No. That's not a ricer. This is:

Seriously though, I'd never consider that (not the picture I posted, the car you posted) a ricer. Looks like a cool car, in my opinion.

I much, much prefer the looks of the Saturn Sky, which is the same car.

Gotta agree with that. I saw the Sky in person before it was released to the public. Sat's got some other vehics coming out that are pretty cool.... though none of them hold a candle to the sky. The front end view of the Sky is much better looking than the Pontiac.

Solstice, eh? I guess it isn't rice (although the potential is surely there) but I would much prefer something with some muscle. Personally I'd look for a late model LS1 F-body, 3V Mustang, LS2 GTO, or like you mentioned, maybe a Vette.

In the category your looking at, though (small, half-way fuel efficient, sporty coupe) I'd opt for a 350Z/Infiniti G35 coupe long before the Solstice.

didn't you mean a 4 v Mustang?...which would be an SVT Cobra(missing the one I just sold)
They didn't make a 3v stang....only 2 and four...well...for the past 10 years anyway:-)

Unless you go to Wal*Mart and buy stuff to add to it (like those sweet plastic spinner hub caps) it is no ricer. It's a great looking car. I too like the looks of the Saturn Sky.

How much the "M's" going for?? Wouldnt mind getting one..

That would be interesting if Nissan/Renault bought into DM w/the Alliance GM and TOyota has going on here in Fremont Ca.. Wonder how Toyota would react to that if it were to happen..

Brian, the Solstice I ordered Friday is the GXP version.
PS I can have the GXP without affecting my kid's college funds, the other cars do not fall into that category.

For the uneducated the performance numbers on the GXP are going to be inline with the BMW M4, and the Porshe Caymen.

I drove the Sky and looked at both of the cars over time. The Pontiac wins in my book. I guess I have a different eye for things.

I like the look of the current model GMC truck and loathe the current Chevy truck look. There isn't a Cadillac built any longer that aesthetically appeals to me either.

. Go for it and put the left over towards retirement, which at your age is coming VERY soon!

I will refuse to think like that until one of my teenage boys gets fast enough to leave me. I should be safe for at least another week. :ride:

The new body 04-06 Stangs are a 3-valve 4.6. I had a lightly modded 01 2-valver, always wanted an 03-04 Cobra. I am now driving an FX4 Lariat Supercrew, but looking into a Lightning.

Those are ricers.

No, those are nice cars. Not necessarily fast, but well-built, quality cars. Sure, lots of dorks will rice them out, but in stock trim they are nice cars.

The Solstice is a Pontiac, which precludes it from "ricer" status due to the fact that it's not a Japanese company . . .

So any American car is precluded from the rice category? What about a tacky Cavalier or Neon wearing rice body garbage, neon lights, and sporting a 5" exhaust tip with 2.25" tubing from the tip-back?
