ISDE Final Results After Day Six

1) Mika Ahola VOR 3:31:28:89 1st 500 4-Stroke and Overall winner
2) Anders Eriksson Husqvarna 3:32:31:39 2nd 500 4-Stroke
3) Samuli Aro Husqvarna 3:33:42:59 1st 250 2-Stroke
4) Juha Salminen KTM 3:35:13:65 1st 400 4-stroke
5) David Knight Yamaha 3:35:15:38 2nd 250 2-Stroke
6) David Fretigne Yamaha 3:35:29:91 1st 250 4-stroke
7) Paul Ednondson Husqvarna 2nd 400 4-stroke
8) Stefan Merriman Husqvarna 1st 125 2-Stroke (Husky had 1-4!)
9) Marc Germain Yamaha 2nd 250 4-Stroke
10) Bjorne Carlsson Husaberg 3rd 500 4-stroke
11) Jani Laaksonen Gas Gas 3rd 250 2-Stroke

Thoughts?

Husqvarna is still the bike to have in the big 4-Stroke Classes..bet there will be a lot of in-expensive Husky's around. They obviously can work. Same with VOR's. VOR makes a good one as well just there isn't enough teams out there (yet) to prove their ability. Yamaha owns the 250 4-Stroke class with no one in sight to challenge. Husqvarna owns the 125 2-Stroke Class. The team with the worst dollar to win ratio? KTM. Very few Husabergs and not as many KTM's on top as would be anticipated. They did get the 400 class win. But look at all the Husky's! And VOR had two team riders. One won the overall and one didn't finish in the top placings.

Want a cheap replica of the overall winner? Get a 2002 VOR 530MX and add lights..

Didn't see any Cannondales, Gas-Gas, TM's, Honda's, Suzuki's etc in contention for the Four Stroke honors. 4-Strokes were basically a Yamaha, KTM, Husqvarna, and VOR game.

Also looks like the really nasty almost winter conditions favored power.

Juha Salminen had carburator problems thursday and got 4 minutes AT. Without that he would have won the overall with his KTM. Well I don't complain. Mika Ahola is also Finnish rider and he deserved victory after another bad luck year.

Another interesting thing is that Finnish riders won three classes: 500 4-Stroke, 250 2-Stroke and 400 4-stroke. Naturally Finns took the Trophy also. Rest of the trophy team were 3rd in their classes.

Stefan Merriman changed the class to 125 because he didn't want to be in same class with Juha Salminen. He knows he can't beat Juha so he went to different class..

Would have been,s could have beens.....you know I bet there are 20 guys saying something similar. I think everyone had problems. Mika Ahola did on day four. Two years in a row is a trend.

What is a VOR - 2nd year overall winner of the ISDE made in Italy. Try the 02', you'll love it! Then again I'm biased after owning 2 of them. I just bought a used 02' WR360 Husky, it's nice but still not up there with my 530.

Woodsrider? Very Old Rotax? Thats pretty funny. :) Last time you spent any time riding with a VOR you complained about eating its dust as I remember. And that old man riding it got you by ten years and at least 30 lbs! Came up with some funky "Spanish Fly" hill deal so you could brag about something. The best riding I saw outa that Gas Gas was those free style moves! ;) (And they were impromptu and choice timing.) (Go back to the ride/race report thread about Paragon Pa.)

Very Origional Ride?

Walt - I think it's time you take your medication again. ;) Yeah that was sure fun blazing around on jeep trails all day. At least "Spanish Fly" hill was a challenge. :scream:

Are you going to come out east and try one of the NETRA Turkey Runs this year? There's only three more left on 10/6, 10/13 and 11/10.

VOR - Vinny's Old Recliner?

My riding buddy, Bret Dooley, missed a silver by a few seconds, he had a great time for his first ISDE. Said he was unbelivably tired on day 4, which is amazing as Bret is a really well conditioned athelete.

BTW, it ain't the bike, it's the rider...............
