there was no need to fight, if he was in third he won no matter what Reed could have done , boring battle for the night maybe, but I tend to look at it as a strategic play for the championship. There is a lot to be said about picking and choosing your battles

Considering the deficit Stewart made up this season and his all or nothing performance in all of the other races, I'd say he did the right thing. It was Reed that needed to make things happen in Vegas...he didn't.

There was no need to throw out a boat anchor either. He had 2nd locked up and didn't have to take chances to maintain it but he slowed way down considering his normal speed.

Considering this was "the closest championship" in years I would have expected a little more effort.

I really hope neither one of them show up at A1 next year. Let them go play golf if this is how they plan to end a close championship battle.

The Season was great until Saturday night. Saturday night was boring.

Stewart did the smart thing. If he would have went for the win and crashed out, we’d be all over him for riding over his head. And, if you consider what Reed’s agenda was, I don’t blame Stewart for wanting him visible and in front in second place.

The more I look at that incident the more disgusted I get, especially when you see it from the different camera angles. They both slowed down in that corner…..Stewart handed the pass to Reed but Reed slowed to take the cheap shot anyway. The only explanation was that Reed was trying to put Stewart on the ground. It was obvious to the point that if Stewart would have went down and not regained his position, I’m sure that Reed would have been penalized or DQ’ed or whatever.

It’s sad because the sport loses credibility when crap like that goes on. There’s a big difference between fighting for the lead and just fighting.

Villopoto appeared to catch James legitimately. He was fun to watch. James has got a bit of a 'tude if you ask me (and not in a productive, competitive way). What's up with JS Entertainment? How many factory guys sponsor themselves?? Is this self promotion or some kind of tax break by setting up a business that makes payments to yourself - I'm a little confused by all the JS logo's he's been sporting lately.

Uhh, as in won the championship?

JBS has BLOWN Ryan away at will ... that being said, I'm a HUGE RV fan and I'm looking forward to the coming seasons and seeing him take his rightful place behind James, displacing Reed back to THIRD where he was when RC was still racing :) Humm... No RC, no Stewart, Reed Wins the title. If either do the whole season, he doesn't win. Now we've got RV. Sorry Chad, you got yours, now it's over. A great career no doubt, I'd LOVE to be as fast (and have the millions in bank).

How would you ride, knowing there is a bonehead, a fast one, in back of you, coming fast, and he has already told tv that he was going to do what it takes, going to put him in row f. Seeing the lead on 4th, I would have pulled in the pits and mooned that fool! And still finish 3rd. JBS, yeah, he is all that and then some! RC said on tv, the fastest ever! How to wreck a perfect summer, high gas-nope, floundering economy-nope, the Mexican flu-nope. Chad Reeds racing the Nats? AWWWW CRAP! Roller National MX? Sure hope JBS shows up once in a while and lets him see the 15 second gap again!

Bottom line in my book: no Reed, no race, most boring Super cross season ever. So thanks for a decent season.

Both are excellent riders, both rode hard most of the season. Both punted the other one way or another. Stewart won. Good job. Move on and quit the whining for crying out loud...now put down the cool aide and go race something.
FYI, there is more rubbing and racing going on at our local tracks, than at Vegas and no one needs a kleenex afterwards.

Oh, and Larry Brooks deserves the as*hat award.

his statement of willing to die on the bike trying to win. you can tell by the way he said it he meant it. He may not have to ride like that now given his dominance but I can only imagine riding like that. Extremely pushing it, its only by pushing yourself beyond your limits, that you extend them. its probably one of the reasons why hes so great

Must be reference to Reed's comments on TV a few weeks ago... yes, before the team member attempted take out (Chisolm? sp?) that was considered a death sentence, vs. a WAY more dangerous attempt/possible outcome by Reed at Vegas, which was "just rubbin". Go figure. Love the double standard.

I can't wait till James tells all, about why he started riding so squirrelly. His team taking him out, or CR's head game? I have never seen him ride like that before, even after some devastating crashes! Since A1, he has had to win every race to get it. CR did not make it close, that first race did! The fastest laps of the race, followed their respective finishes, once again. This season was kind of a disappointment for me, I sure thought RV would have done better, but did finish well! Other than that, it was, and is, all about James.(Was this the woman screaming, that needed slapping, Pat?)

RC said it was "just some attitude", "not all that bad", and "definitely not a clean out." I'll trust his opinion.

Okie... there was nothing dangerous about that move.

Of course he was looking for his sammich at the time and not watching where he was going but that is a totally unrelated and fabricated story :)

Seriously though... if he wanted James down he would have been down. Plus Stewart turned into him and knew he was there (Stewie had been looking back for laps to make sure Reed could catch up).

I have honestly seen more contact by friends on our local woods track than Reed did with Stewart.

Dangerous? Only as dangerous as being on the track to begin with in traffic.

It kinda looks that way in the first replay. However, the second angle replay (while Reed is being interviewed) looks more malicious to me. From that angle, Reed had 2nd place free and clear. Putting Bubba into the blocks was uncalled for and IMO was an attempted take out. Heck, he pretty much admits to in the interview.

BTW, the Chisolm thing looked like a stupid move to me but not malicious. In the replay I saw, KC could have just t-boned him if he wanted him down. It looked to me like he was trying to avoid contact with Reed.

Look at the first 4 seconds. Then go to the 59 second mark and watch the position of Stewarts bike change inward. Stewart even seems to over-correct and stand the bike up before Reed even touches him.

Stewart went WAYY outside on that turn and Reed came in and ran high. Stewart turned in at the same time.

Not saying Reed wouldn't have rubbed him anyway but Stewart definitely wasn't holding his line either.

Considering their skill level that is no more than Reed letting Stewart know he is there.

It isn't like Pastrana at LL's when he slowed up and took out the guy in 2nd b/c he had to have the guy finish in 3rd in order to get the LL Championship.

Now Mike Alessi later in the race did seem to punt a guy over the berm. Saw a pick of that but can't find it... he went directly for the front tire.

I saw it completely different. Reed wasn't even to Stewart when Stewart turned inward.

I dont see anything wrong with what he did. he passes stewart by stuffing him into a corner. I think what makes it look worse is the fact that it was a very wide corner, and he could have gotten by without making any contact, so he basically went out of his way to make contact cause he doesnt like him and its as simple as that. But theres nothing wrong with stuffing people.
