I finally had enough of trying to find the correct needle for my YZ 250. The last straw was walking into my local dealer. I attempted to order a leaner needle.

When it finally came in, parts dork said.."I changed it to a richer needle." "I did not want you to burn your valves"

This bike is a YZ 250...non f. Its a two stroke.

I e mailed James dean and asked him about a kit. He assured me the YZ 250 kit would work well even though it was labeled for 2002-present bikes.

The kit includes two needles of James's design. Several main jets and a pilot jet. I allready had most of these. The needles are what I needed.

I followed James's instructions to the letter and put the needle in. What a difference. Thsi is the first time my bike felt good at the 1/2 throttle range. An amazing difference.

I had never saw a report on his two stroke kits. based on my experience, they are excellent.

I put his kit in my 2005 KX250 and it runs great with the just his initial reccomended settings. I only wish he threw in more than one pilot, I had to go down one size more and maybe yet another size next summer. I really didn't compare it to the stock jetting, I put it in right away. But the stock jetting was definitely rich.

I have the JD kit in my 2004 RM250, very happy with it. At first it was loading up on the line and had to be reved to clean it out before the start but James gave some suggestion and it works real well now. Very pleased

What settings did you end up with and for what conditions? I have the JD kit for my RM250K5 but have not fitted it yet.

I paid 89.95 for my kit..Including next day air shipping.

Honestly, the kit is a great value if you dont own extra pilot and main jets.

The needles themselves are what made the kit worthwhile for me. They are much different, and better, than the stock Yamaha parts I could get.

Right, I am at sea level, cool conditions, the best results, blue needle, 3rd clip position, 168 main, 45 pilot, air screw out 2 full turns. Very happy with these settings. I should mention fitted is the Vforce 3 reed block. Good luck, hope this helps.
