July 1st and 2nd? 3rd and 4th?

Hey, Im not going to be able to ride this weekend, but I am trying to get a idea for next weekend. Who would be interested in a two day ride? Where? I want to go back out to Muenster and ride at Pete's gate for a whole day. There are a lot of good trails in there that we havnt hit.

maybe we could head back out to barnwell?

My sons took a friend of ours riding yesterday at Muenster. He had seen the DVD of the Last Man Standing and wanted to try Joshua Tree Hill. He went up the cliff face, not the easier trail to the left of the tree. Tried it three times. He made it up the cliff each time, launched in the air, but when he landed, he lost momentum and traction, and couldn't continue.

Wish I could go riding with you guys. I'm still healing up.

you will be there before too long, I cant wait to go ride with you. James says your fun to ride with, hopefully you will heal up before too long and you can show us the kyomichi (pardon my spelling haha). I cant wait to try the Joshua tree hill.

I can wait to try Joshua Tree; I can wait a long time. I'm pretty sure I can't make it, and I hate the thought of my bike or my body or both all balled up together tumbling down that cliff face. The only sensible way to do it is to have three or four buddies at the top to catch you just in case. Anyway, I'll be riding in a month or two; I may wait until the weather cools off to get started again. In the meantime I have to:

Replace rear wheel bearings in two KTMs
Replace countershaft seal in the 200
Replace chain and sprockets on one 400 and the 300
Get the lights working on the 300 and the 200
Find out why the 400 doesn't like to start when it's hot
Solve a nagging vibration on the old 400
Get a new GPS unit and teach my sons to use it


So you see, I have lots to do. It's not all necessary before I ride again, but it would be nice to get it all done. In addition, I'm trying to decide which bikes to keep and which to sell, if any, and what kind of new bike to buy, if any. I kind of have the itch for new mo-chine, but I'm not sure which one. If I get a two-stroke, it will probably be a KTM 250 or 300 XC; if a thumper, probably a 400 or 450 E/XC, but maybe a 450XC. I might even go big and get a 525.

They say the collarbone will take 12 weeks to fully heal. It's been four weeks now, so my estimated return is the end of August. But we'll see. I might be ready to go before then, if the doc says OK. I just can't take a chance on re-breaking this thing before it's fully healed. You guys stay healthy until I get back. Don't try Joshua Tree yet.

I agree with you Jim. I like new challenges but do not like the pain involved if I don`t make it. I stop to look at an obstacle for too long, I will probably not make it. My gut instinct is normally the right way, [not to do it].

I'm taking my kids and 4 bikes to Barnwell next Friday and Saturday. We'll get there Friday, ride, camp out, and ride Saturday as well.

I'm also hoping to go up to Muenster during the week, maybe Tuesday, with my son Benjamin and maybe my daughter Talia (she did really well at Muenster last week).

That's a quite bit of maintenance Jim. For me that's fun stuff to do when you can't ride.

Ok, I posted this in KTM talk, I think we are probably going to go to Lake Murray instead this weekend, for the showers and electric hookup. If that is alright with everyone please say so, we are going to plan for saturday morning until later sunday.

We've changed plans. We're going to Muenster tomorrow, and to Wolf Pen Gap Arkansas Friday and Saturday. I've never been there, but I'm looking forward to exploring some new trails systems.

I took my family to wolfpen gap one year ago, that place was a lot of fun. We camped at wolfpen gap rv park and rode down the county road about one mile, to the trail head. The trails are wide and fast, you have to watch for fast oncoming dirt bikes. The trails are marked pretty decent. Night rides were cool. lol.

Brian, your more than welcome to come out to Murray with us. We can meet up there and ride all weekend. Normally we would hit muenster up, but since we are camping out we all are kinda leaning towards Murray.

So far its Luster, Rocco, Me. Thats it for now. I dont think my Dad and family is going to go, then its just Rocco and I, his friends cant go. I think Luster might be taking his Girl and youngen.

Down Time

I will be at home working on the bikes, old mustang, and my daughter's new (used) Suzuki z400 quad that she just bought. I tore up my shoulder working on the old car 2 months ago and still down. It will still be another month or so before I can ride again. It turned into burtsitus (spelling?) and giving me problems. The doctors are working on it and I hope no surgery is necessary. They are sticking me with needles right now and sending me to Therapy.

My boy is back on his feet walking again. He still has a limp and may for a while. He is on the quad but not ready for a bike again. He recovered from the break faster than I thought considering the femur was in 2 pieces.

Have a good weekend. I have the whole weekend off and will be thinking about you guys having a good time.

Honestly, I'm not a big fan of Lake Murray. It's kind of smallish, and the trails are mostly flat and wide compared to Muenster. I may hit up Muenster, but I am considering Kiamichi as well. Whatever I do will be Saturday/Sunday only. I have to work Monday. I may just stay home, too. That'd be a heckuva lot cheaper.

Brian -- Darrel, Billy, and Tate are going to Kiamichi Friday and Saturday. I faxed Darrel some of my maps. You might hook up with them Saturday. Might be some other KTM guys up there as well who know the way.

Yeah, I like the camping at Murray, But i like the trails at Muenster the BEST!!! by FAR!!!
But Our plans have changed one last time, Rocco and I are the only ones riding so... WE are going out to Murray friday night and leaving saturday after lunch time, and heading out to Muenster to meet up with some of our old friends, we will be camping out at muenster saturday night, GREY NISSAN TITAN! I have the 450 exc and my friend has the KX 250f. See you guys out there!!!

Jim, I have talked to Darrel and was initially planning to do Kiamichi with them this weekend, but it is just too long of a trip to make by myself for a day or two of riding. I'll be taking the camper, and at 8-10 mpg, I'd like to keep distance down to a minimum.

IBGoinAJ, where do you plan to park once you guys get there Saturday? Like I mentioned, I'll try to get my regular spot through the second gate, but might have to look elsewhere for parking if that spot is taken. Look for my dark Grey F-150 4x4 and the small Jayco travel trailer.

Looks like I had a last-minute change of plans as well. I won't be able to ride this weekend, I've got to drive out to Austin and take care of some family stuff. Next weekend looks good, though.
