I ride my friends YZ125, and when I try to jump (little jumps), I always mess up. I eaither nose dive, or go sideways. Could any of you give me advice?
Grip the bike with your knees. That will help to keep the bike from going sideways. As for the nose diving hold the gas on steady up the face of the jump until you rear wheel clears the jump. Don't pin it just a steady amount.
Good Luck
P.S. You might try posting this in the proper forum (riding Techniques) You will proably get a lot more responses. The search function is also a handy tool. Im sure you will come up with something.
jim01: Your jumping a borrowed bike $$$$$$$$$$$$$$...LOL....do you guys have the "you break it you buy it rule".
Just messin man.....
Nose dive=your getting off the gas and not completing the task at hand "JUMPING". Pin that little biznatch! or at least give it a nice "Blip" going up the jump face.
Sideways=the jump you are hitting has a big "knot" in the take off or you are trying to whip it like ricky! Keep it straight and stay on the gas off off the lip.
Nose high=You pinned that little biznatch and are skying! Pull in your clutch, stomp on the back brake...."yea baby I can see the ground....sweet!" Let out the clutch and grab another fistfull!
Back to basics:
1) Stay on the gas off of a jump face. Do not do a jump you are not comfortable with. Start w/ tables and move to doubles
2) If nose high....clutch and back brake.
3) If nose low.....PANIC REV!!!!! Braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap...Oh my god...I'm still alive. OK.
4) If sideways....your on your own!
