new member here, love the site.

recently bought an rm80 off a coworker, that he had laying around his shop. i rebuilt the top-end and started it up, ran fine at idle, but started bogging down when i turned the throttle up. noticed there wasn't alot of exhaust fumes coming out of the tailpipe.
turns out a mouse had been shredding paper and plastic bags and making a little home for him/herself in the pipe.
bike runs much better now that it can exhale.
cya 'round.

Two years ago my dad went to start his bike, and there was no way it would start. Finally he checked the airbox and found that a mouse had been living inside it. After we cleaned that out it started right up.

I just put my FMF pipe on that came with my bike and it had a nice nest built up in there. Took an hour of putting it on, taking it off, needle nose pliers, coat hangers, gasoline and a torch:debil: , air compressor, etc.......

Kind of along the same lines, but a little bigger machine:

'Bout 8 years ago, the road grader I ran developed a leaky radiator. We just happened to have a spare, so we just switched it out. I started running it, and I couldn't go more than twenty minutes without it overheating! We had the Cat mechanic up and everything, took it to the dealership twice! Finally, they did a teardown and found out a mouse had nested in one of the radiator tanks, and now there was little bits of rag all through the engine!

They did get it fixed, and it ran like a top from then on. For all I know its still running.

I hate meeses to pieces! :debil:

You can always tell a how good vintage bike is by the size wasp nest you have to you destroy on it. I have found a wasp nest under the tank and the last jewel I found had the air box half full of a winter supply of corn for a rat family.

True story, I swear, as unbelievable as it sounds. We camped at a riding area one weekend. We got up on the second day, and decided to swap air filters, because the trails were dusty. We're all merrily wrenching away, and suddenly, one of the guys screams as he is throwing his seat and running away from his bike, screaming "Snaaaake!". So we all cautiously walk up to the bike. Sometime during the night, a small rattlesnake had somehow crawled inside his airbox, and was staring out at us, quite upset.

I just bought an MGB that had been sitting in a driveway for a couple of years. Judging from the size of the. . .uh, evidence, there was a kangaroo living in the engine bay at some point. :silly:

Welcome aboard, pchilders.
