well, i just won a bike on ebay..i havent owned a bike in a few years and i wanted to get back into it. anway, i got myself a fixer upper. my first ever 2stroke bike.

could you guys help a brother out and drop me some links to some good parts places?

also, how is maintence on one of these bikes. i'm fairly good with my hands and i was wondering how often i would be tearing this mug apart. im sure that due to age this bike needs lots of work. i had some other questions but i forgot them.. anyway, thanks

first i'd find out what year it is so you can order the right parts, and i'd get a second opinion on the year as well.
rockymountain mc is a good place, so is bobs.
also, you may try online places like bikebandit.com...
i got into a fixer upper, it was cheaper to buy a new bike.

thanks

i found out the bike is an 85. thanks to suzukicycles.com

i know what you mean about the fixer upper part.. i'm sure i'll be dumping more than what i paid for the bike in parts. its something i want to do though. you dont really learn anything if your stuff is in good working order. anyway, first order of buisness is too get an exhaust for this thing. then figure out what else it needs.

im glad i got another bike. even if it is a heap :thumb: :yeehaw:

I had an '85 RM 250 for 5 years, then sold it to a youngster who rode it for 4 more years. It was a really good bike for me. No power valve, so top ends are simple. This is fully counteracted by the very complex "full floater" suspension linkage. Pull it apart, carefully, and clean and grease everything.
my kickstarter wore where it contacted the stop, have a welder lay a bead there -its aluminum- and then file it to shape. the rest of the bike really held up well.
