Hi,

I just bought a KDX 200 2005 model and when i start the bike it is making a cluckiing noise. Is this normal? I have heard that is the power valves that make that noise. The bike starts no problem and there are no problems when riding.

The prevoius owner assured me that there is nothing wrong with the motor. The motor has not been touched.

Any adive would be great

Can you describe the "clucking" a little better?

I have an 03 200 with makes what I would describe as a light knocking noise at idle and low revs, but seems to disappear under acceleration. I had read that this appears to be normal and even heard another KDX on youtube that made the exact same sound.

Then my brother bought an 05 220r and it is silent! My bike runs perfect, so I am not worried about it so much ... but it would be nice to have her quiet if I knew exactly what the culprit was.

KIPS seems to be the answer so far, but the sound seems to be coming from a little lower in the motor.

I have spoken to a Kawasaki dealer and done a bit of research on the internet and the clucking appears to be the KIPS. The noise is coming from the KIPS and the dealer said that the KIPS are noisy on the KDX 200.

I also find that the noise disappears under acceleration
