Bit of background,

I'm one of those FPS (Frames per Second) junkies when it comes to computers and gaming, and one of online tools that I find invaluable when setting up my computer for optimum performance is 3DMark. Its a benchmark program with the great feature of allowing you to enter your full computer specs and performance numbers into an online database so that you can compare your setup to everyone else's and get either some good info on optimizing your system, or help optimize someone else's

I was looking at it the other day and thinking a thread where everyone listed their setups for their KDX's would be an insightful reference (even though performance measurements would not be possible)... It would give people a way to confirm the ballpark they should be in, and at the very least a relative starting point that was reasonable. I know there are many many more configuration areas, but better to keep it simpler and try to hit where 90% of the questions come from.

So many people post asking about individual questions on bike setup because many times, the information they are looking for (while present) is sometimes buried in other information or is so generalized that you get many returns that again must be sifted through... Often, it becomes easier to simply ask the specific question and weed through the "use the search function" replies to get to the one guy or gal who answers the question because they are bored :)

How about if everyone just cut and pasted the area below and kept adding to this thread to build a reference. It might cut down on alot of the specific questions and could be interesting as a comparison study... Haven't you always been curious about what everyone else is doing? :)

I know the Must-Read KDX text by Canadian Dave is still the definitive work, but such a work often has to speak in general terms and you find yourself saying "Well, I did 3 out of 4 of those things he mentioned, but how does that 4th thing effect my settings, and is a PC Pipe Different than an FMF pipe?" etc etc... What do you think? is this useful? Any Oracle programmers out there want to take a stab at an online database so that you can do things like search on only bikes listed that are 1997-2001 and use Boyesen Rad Valve? :)

Done already? Bad idea? Oh well...

I'll go first...

Bike extremely reliable and rarely requires more than 2 kicks to start even stone cold. Bike makes quite a bit of exhaust smoke until engine is thoroughly warmed up (about 20 minutes)

Notes: Suspension settings are changing daily. Ready to send it all out for Gold Valves. Bike is very reliable and runs great on pump gas, which is neccesary because I dual sport it about 4-5 days a week and often race on weekends. Holding up quite well, especially considering I'm a rather aggressive rider. Bike was purchased new last summer, torn down to frame and all mods done this winter.
