Hi folks,

Anyone out there able to give me some advice about rear suspension on a KDX20SR. The stock rear shock seems to have given up the ghost. There is no rebound when I compress it. What's the most likely cause, gas compression blown, linkage seized? And the remedy, renovate the shock, or replace? If replace anyone have any experience of using a shock other than the stock one for the SR, eg. the KDX220R etc.

Any help, advice gratefully received.

Um, well assume the oil has leaked out, the normal kdx shocks are quite rebuildable so SR ones probably are the same. Give it to a shock rebuilder for an opinion.

Go to http://www.buykawasaki.com/Default.asp? & choose KDX (won’t find SR sorry) & you can see the parts under vehicle information/view parts

May require a new shaft if it was rusty & damaged the seal but that’s not the end of the world, plenty of people will make a new one. Most likely the money spent on another 2nd hand shock will be worn out or unsuitable.

Ahh, :silly: just re read your msg. No rebound, not no rebound damping?

Ok take the shock out with bike on a crate & work the wheel up & down. That will identify if your bearings are kuzed, which they will be. If all ok then shock shaft may be bent but not likely.
