Has anyone ridden both these bikes in the woods, tight trees and technical trails, hills and can compare them as far as handling, weight, low and high end torque and power, ease of starting.Indicate if the KDX has any mods'- pipe, springs, bored carb, etc.No track riding at all.

TomDez,
Do a search in this section of the forum and you will find a ton of info about both of these bikes as well as debates on which is better. I personaly have owned both and have posted my opinions. Good luck.

I have owned a KDX220 which was modified somewhat (FMF header/pipe, carb bored out) and also had an opportunity to ride a WR250 on a couple of occasions. Terrain I ride in is largely fairly tight woods trails. The KDX was a lot more forgiving and easy to ride, but the WR had a very strong mid-top end and overall more geared for racing with a lot better suspension.

In my opinion - a KDX with some minor tweaks makes a great recreational trails bike that has ample power for most riders. If you are more oriented to racing the Yamaha is pretty impressive alternative.
