Hi all, after a bit of help if possible, I have a 91 KDX250 which runs great at low end but seems to come to a stop just after mid range and has no top end power at all? I'm quite new to this bike so am not sure if this is how they are?
It is as though the kips is not working? Any help would be much appreciated.

Trevor - I'm not familier with the ins and outs of the KDX 250's but I know they had fairly lousy jetting from the factory. Have you done a top end inspection? If the KIPS wasn't working correctly that would explain the lack of top end power. Possibly your piston and rings are worn? You should also check the condition of the silencer packing. If its gummed up with spooge that will also kill your top end.

Thanks, I have had a look at the KIPS and think I have found the problem, the rod that comes from inside the clutch housing has a nut on the end and an arm which connects to the rod which moves the valves. The nut was totally lose. All I need to know now is should the side valves be open or closed with the engine not running?
