Kick starter gears

Has anyone heard of the kick starter gears gettin striped out? I have a '85 cr250 and i try and kick it and i can feel the gears slipping. Has anyone eles had this problem?

this could be attributed to your spring behind your kickstarter ratchet gear.  I have replaced mine, but you can remove it and strech the spring out to provide more tension on the gear.

I agree, its likely not the gears, but the spring getting slack. YOu can also put a very thin washer between the spring and the gear to increase its "length".
