Went into my 2002 kdx-200 about two weeks ago to find, diagnose problem with kickstarter not engaging when kicking bike to start. Pulled all the necessary parts and really did not find anything obvious wrong so I did a guess at it approach and ordered the 60 dollar kick shaft-waited for a week to arrive at dealer and installed it and I still am having same problem as before. Am now wondering what to replace next as there is no sign of damage to any of the parts on the entire mechanism. Will be ordering new ratchet today and hope this is the problem-would hate to have to go back and pull all these things apart the third time. Anyone here have problems with kickstarter not engaging about 50% of the time that you kick. Thanks for any input.
