my kickstarter started flopping around wildly while riding this weekend and i noticed a whining sound coming from the shaft area. i took the k s lever and rotated it backward by hand until the rachet started clicking then i let the lever go and the noise went away. it did this several times. whats up?

It sounds like the return spring is likely broken. You'll need to pull off the inner clutch cover and inspect.

Instead of starting a new thread I have a question. I hit a big log on a ride that bent my pipe (didn't dent it, bent the whole thing up and out) and now my kickstarter hits it when it is in the closed position. I know it might not make a big differnece if it hits the pipe or not, but I dont like it. Will and FRP starter not hit it? I am thinking of getting one as my POS stocker is bent back and is ready to sign off soon.
