After disassembling center exhaust valve on 89 KDX, I noticed
the wave washer in between the holder and valve was horse shoe
shaped instead of a full circle. I looked at the parts diagram but
could not tell for sure if this way the way it is supposed to be.
Does anyone know?
You can install it in any direction, just apply some grease to it before you install it to hold it in place, horse shoe facing down if you like.I recall one of the outer edges it round and the other is almost sharp, place the sharp side against the engine. It is designed to rotate around the main exhaust valve as it works and is held in by the small aluminum cover. :thumb:
Thanks for the reply JDBRUSCH. The washer I am talking about is on the inside. It is a thin wavy washer that sits in between the gear on the valve and the aluminum body.
Sorry twocycle, they no longer use that part on the 92-94,the wave washer was there I believe to keep tension on the main powervalve.Take a good look at it and whichever surface is the most polished I would install that towards the surface that rotates,in this case the powervalve.
