KLX and KDX suspension?

MY dad says he isn't going to pay that much money for a 250 yzf/wrf. He is trying wanting my to get a KLX 300 or the KDX 200/220. I like riding woods but don't get to go as much as I would like so I just ride in our open fields. Because riding around in circles in a flat field is boring I jump a little. What bike would be more suited for this? Also how is the power for these bikes? I have read around the forums and gained a little info, but would like more.

The KDX200/220 is much better. Lighter and faster. Make sure u buy a fmf pipe tho. HUGE power increase. u might want stiffer fork springs for jumping. rear shock is fine. do not buy a klx for jumping

the KLX handles better and has better suspension. Theis not much speed difference . The KDX is a little lighter and starts easier. You don't have to mix gas and oil for the KLX. There are lots of aftermarket parts for the KDX. The KLX is really good in slimy conditions or rocks. Both bikes can be jumped. The KLX can be hard to start. The KDX needs topend rebuilds every year or so. The KLX might need a topend job once every 5 years. Both are good bikes, the KLX needs a little less maintenance.

What Penguin said. One of the biggest differences to me when riding a 2s vs. 4s is engine braking. Thumpers have it, 2-smokes don't. This is great when picking your way down a hill or technical trail since you can stay off the brakes and just let the engine slow you down in a controlled manner. Then again, I sure have a lot of fun when I hop on a 2s since they rev forever -- and stay fairly revved up once you let off the gas! This makes 2-smokes easier to jump and ride really fast, but they take more effort to ride. Thus, you would probably have more fun on the 4s after a long day since you won't be as tired.
