I've done a search on this topic with limited success, so...
I currently own a '98 KDX 220 with the usual mods (pipe, reeds, Fredette susp. mods, etc...). I really like this bike, but my riding buddies are on CR 500's and YZ 426's. I feel like I'm hammering my poor little KDX too much just trying to keep up, hence the decision to go with a KTM 300. I'm sure I'll get along just fine with the 300's powerband, so that decision is made. I ride mostly desert single track with occasional trips to the mx track and a couple of grand prix's.
I've found a clean '99 300 EXC, my question is, other than the forks (50mm conventional vs. 43mm inverted), are there a lot of differences between the '99 and '00-'01 300's? Shock, frame motor, clutch, weight, anything?
Your opinions on the '99 are welcome as well. Thanks guys.
