KTM 450sx jumping out of 3rd gear!

Hi all

Recently purchased a 2005 KTM 450sx 4 speeder

It slips out of 3rd into 4th all the time?? It will go down the box and hold in 3rd gear until i accelerate then bang it goes up into 4th

Any ideas? expensive job???

Sounds like you have bent shift forks or worn shift dogs on the gears or both. It is a KTM, so yes, it will be expensive. ;)

A good factory service manual will explain how to do it yourself if you are mechanically inclined. Will require splitting the engine cases.
