Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM clinched the 125cc Road Race Constructors' World Championship on November 6. Although it had small success with the limited Duke, KTM's first serious on-road offering came in 2003 with the introduction of the dual-sport 950 Adventure.
For 2006, KTM revealed plans to bring back the 950 Adventure and Adventure S, offer a road-going 625 SMC, and a new bike called the 950 Supermoto. The company also said it would bring the 990 Super Duke - already available in Europe - to the U.S. in 2007.
During a recent conversation with Powersports Business, Stefan Pierer, KTM CEO, said other planned on-road models include a 1150cc RC8 scheduled for 2008, a twin-cylinder sport-tourer, plus two bikes which will likely boast powerplants in the 1600cc to 1700cc range.
