I have a chance to buy a project bike, it looks to be a late 70's KTM420. It might need:

2nd and 3rd gear (so the guy says)
misc. stuff like cables, brakes, throttle, etc.
Rear shocks
fork rebuild
cosmetics (plastic, seat cover)
engine rebuild (I'd just split the cases and get it over with)

I was looking for a long-term vintage project bike, and this seems perfect, but don't have any idea of parts availability, whether from the factory or used. The price? $50.

Any thoughts? Is is it worth it. If nothing else, I could hang it from the ceiling of my shop as a display piece!

Get alot of info on parts as some earlier KTMs wont have parts available.

difficult parts to find will be:
piston
rod kit
seat
tank
all plastic
air boot
gear box stuff is easy
