Windham will ride Honda CRF450R outdoors
Racer X has learned that returning superstar Kevin Windham will be making his comeback on a Honda CRF450R thumper when he joins the AMA/Chevy Trucks U.S. National Motocross circuit in May. Windham, who was with Team Suzuki until he broke his leg in February '02 at the Atlanta SX, has not raced a major event since. But now he's said to be "100 percent into coming back, and he's loving that Honda," according to a source in the pits.
There has been no announcement on what kind of team setup Kevin will have, because he is apparently still in close talks with the Amsoil/Chaparral/Factory Connection Honda team, but he might have some personal sponsors (including No Fear) that he wants to keep. (Factory Connection's Mike LaRocco, Travis Preston, Mike Byrne, Chris Gosselaar, and Ryan Mills all wear O'Neal.) Windham may also have at least one major corporate sponsor interested in helping him do the circuit in his own rig, with the Factory Connection team possibly giving logistical support.
Look for an announcement on Windham's future in the near future.
