Quick question. I currently own a 94 kx250 and I really like the looks of the KTM250sx. I saw the 99 that Wolf has for sale in the classifieds and I have also seen one in person and I really like them but haven't ridden one. I really like the power that I have with my kx and I am wondering the pros and cons between both. Parts availability, reliability, comfort, power, etc..... I like my bike and have had no problems with it but I really like the looks of the KTM but looks aren't everything. Can anyone give me some advice?
Thanks
Shane

Right now I am riding a little bit of everything. Woods, mx, trails. Just mainly playing around. I will be at Cooperland this weekend. I go to Lake Draper here in Okc quite a bit. Mixture of everything.

I have a friend that has a KTM 300. He loves it and he rides MX and primarily trails and Draper. He gets his parts at AJAX and says he doesnt have much trouble getting the parts for it. I was talking to him about it yesterday, and he said there are 3 KTM dealers....one south...one in Tulsa....and I cant remember the other. Hope this helps.

Thanks Milk. I believe the third one is Performance Cycle on 39th. They are some good guys over there. Anyways. Have you ever ridden his 300?? Seeing as you have a KX it would be nice to get an opinion from a former or previous kx owner.

Tell ya what, he has a separated shoulder at the moment, and I have broken ribs, but..........

We store all of our bikes in the same place (close to 59th and Douglas) in a friends garage. I will be over there tonight or tomorrow to do a little maintanence and Ill jump on it. From what he says, and another friend concurs, the bike is a monster and way, way powerful. Its a 1996 model though. I dont know how accurate it will be to judge against a newer model.

He rides in the 250 Beginner class in races, and is very skilled, but he is normally running in the top 3 riders.

Hope this helps.

Not to push my SX on you or anything, but if you are looking for a low end grunter, I've got it. I added the flywheel weight to it and a gnarly pipe. I ride mostly trails with some MX play and really like the SX. I'm just trying to help.....

He didn't say it suffers alot on the trails, he just said an MXC or EXC would be more suited because the engine and suspension are set up alot different. Basically he was just having to cruise in 3rd to keep the hit down, simple remedy.
