kx500 spring rate

I'm trying to find out the correct rear shock spring I need for my '87 KX500. I am 6ft 5in and weigh 250lbs w/o gear so add and extra 10lbs for gear. I usually ride sand dunes, desert, and some trails. I used the race tech guide and it suggested a 5.5 (stock is 5.4) but I was thinking it would need to be a little stiffer or is this correct?

I don't know why Rt sudgested such a light weight spring. The 87 was before my time in terms of performance modifications, I have only rebuilt them since I have been in the business. You might try George over at Scotts as he was revavling shocks when the 87 was new and would have the linkage and tunning info posibly.
