A good place to start is to write a letter to the Editor at the LA Times. Tell the other side of the story.
A lot of people only believe what they read. If they only hear one side of the story, that's what they believe.
They don't know about the off road organizations that do land clean up and help to protect the enviroment. They don't know about all of the fees that we are required to pay to use our OHV's, Green sticker funds, Forest Adventure Passes, park admittence fees, not to mention our taxes that support the USFS and the BLM.
The really sad part is that now, most of the money that we are required to pay goes to fight frivilous law suits. These enviro groups want a certain area shut down, they make some claim that there is some kind of endangered plant or animal there and then they sue. The Forest Service and the BLM does not have the funds to fight them, so, they just shut the land down.
We lose, the agencys lose, the enviro's get their way and their attorneys walk away fat and happy. :| To me this is not an enviromental issue this is a socialist issue. These people just want their way.
Worst of all, the money that is supposed to go to protect the land and the species is redirected into the pockets of their attorneys.
Several of these ohv groups that JP mentioned, along with the AMA, The American Sand Assn., and others are now hiring their own attorneys to counter sue. They are hiring experts to do studys on the so called endangered plant or animal and finding out that a lot of these claims are false.
So, if you want to help, join one of these groups and send them as much money as you can afford and also write the paper and give them the other side of the story. :thumb:
