Your best bet is have a shop do it. You could buy one (expensive) or make one yourself. A leak-down test is a simple procedure of pressurizing your engine and measuring the time it takes to leak out. About 7 psi max and it should stay for a few minutes. I am not certain of the time frame. The only difficult part is sealing the intake and exhaust areas.
I wouldn't worry about a leak-down test on a 2-stroke. There are no valves to leak by. A little bit of ring leakage isn't a problem because you won't suck crankcase oil. As long as your compression checks out, you're good to go. Most of us have a scratch or two in the cylinder that will throw off the readings. You would also have to do a leakdown test at TDC on a 2-stroke because of the ports. Good luck getting the piston to stay there with 100+ psi on it.
do u think i could have messed up the seal on the cases when i split them becuase i used screwdrivers to seperate it cuz i didnt wanna spend money on a tool i wouldnt use much
Oh, you want to pressure test the underside of the piston? As for whether or not you messed up the seal, you may have you may not. The gasket can take up some small scratches you may have put on the surface. A little sealant can take care of the rest. Big gouges usually have high spots on either side as well, you can use a file to take those down. If it worries you, you can use epoxy and a file to make everything like new. You must be extremely careful with the file, you don't want to remove any spots that are already low. Find a friend who knows what he is doing to teach you how to do things right.
