i replaced the old gasket on my 2001 YZ250 which was leaking with a new gasket. it seems to be leaking from the same spot as before. is there any possibility of the clutch cover being warped? what should i do?

go to an auto parts store and grab a small tube of gasket sealant and spread it around before putting the gasket on, if you haven't done so already. after you put the gasket on put another layer on the other side of the gasket and install the clutch cover. that should definitely seal it up

by the way, try taking a razor blade and scraping off the remaining gasket material. since you say it leaks in the same place, it is most likely due a buildup of gasket material

I think you are probably right in your hypothesis that the cover may be warped. Did you tighten down the bolts around the cover evenly and in a star pattern to ensure a tight and even closure all the way around? That is the only thing I can think of besides what the other guys are saying with the liquid gasket sealer which is a very viable cause. I would check those two things before spending the money on a new cover. Goodluck.

I tightened the bolts the way you said and torqued everything to the proper specs. I'll see hoe it goes with the new gasket, thanks!
