Not from me.

I'm amazed that anybody can make it threw a national outdoor race. This guy can do at 36 (or whatever his age is) and still consistantly place in the top 10. Amazing. If he wants to ride 125 I've got no problem with it.

I would rather kiss RC than bag on Dowd, Dowd is old school and it's guys like him that are sport is really about, it helps us guys his same age feel like we can still ride good if we wanted it bad enough. I hope he kicks some bootie.:)

He won the 125 sx west in 98 or 99 on a Yamaha. I think he got 2nd in the outdoors to RC the same year on a 125. When you're good, bike size does not matter. I hope he doesn't hurt himself ridin with those youngsters.

This is very interesting. Its ok for Dowdy to pick some cherries in the b class( in sx the 125s are a support class) but when RC, Brown or Ward ride a 125 they are sandbagers. It kind of seems like a double standard to me.

That may be the opinion of many here but it was never mine. I didn't bash any of these guys for riding a 125.

Not a double standard.

RC -- multi-time champ who moved down just to get a record = cherry picking

Ward, Brown, Dowd -- Non-factory guys trying to make a living = not cherry picking.

Now that Brown's the 125 champ, I have no problem with him defending it (even twice if he wins it again), and if he doesn't win it again, nothing wrong with him continuing. Some guys are just 125 guys, some guys see money to be made in that class, some guys are "hired guns" (a la KTM with Dowd) to get a manufacturer a chance at a championship.

There are only so many rides out there, and everyone can't ride the 250 class and expect to make some dinero.

But, the highly paid factory star shouldn't be jumping down just for a record. Even if it were McGrath, LaRocco, Windham, or anyone I'd still be against it.

Now, if Barnett wanted to come back and reclaim his record, I'd be all for it!:p

Racin' is Racin', wheather it's on a 125 or a 520. Everyone has to race the same track. For RC to go back and ride a 125 after 2 years, and "BLOW" the competition away is awesome!
RC stomped the competition, it's in the books,..........get over it!

let me clarify my position. i have no problem with anyone riding the 125 nationals (even rc). i consider it to be a full-fledged "a" class. i wouldn't have any complaints about anyone riding that class, even for their entire career. my problem is with the 125 sx class, which as pointed out by others, is a support class. dowd is one of my favorite riders but this just isn't right. i'm not going to bash him because i'm not so sure this was his decision but a rider of his caliber shouldn't be in the support class. i didn't think it was right the last time he rode 125sx.

Thats crazy cause Dowd was never really a top 5 SXrider anyway so I think it's great he is in the 125 class, hell I think it's great he is still racing.

where did you hear about Dowd racing 125 east? I don't think KTM needs to "hire guns" to win championships, either.

BTW - Langston is also riding 125 east...........

Hannah moved down to 125's at the mxdn's after winning lots of titles and Barnett never moved up in mx so are these guys cherry pickers?

It's always puzzled me why it is that the same people that put these guys up on a pedestal are very quick to knock Brown and RC.

Barnett most certainly did move up to the 250's, but he did return to the 125 class and finished his career on a 125 Kawasaki.

What years did Barnett ride 250 mx? I know he rode them in sx but not mx, if I'm wrong I apologize. If I am wrong it makes my point even stonger,Barnett drops down to the 125s after riding 250s sounds alot like what RC did. I know why Bob rode a 125 at the mxdn's and I think it was one of the highlights of his career but the fact is he rode a 125 after winning titles on big bikes. If your going to call RC a cherry picker and not these two you have a double standerd.

so if the guy that beats you every week moves up a class, then can't run top 5, it's okay with you if he moves back down?
