Looking for more top

hey, im looking for more top end in my 96 yz125, right now its got pro circuit exhaust, vforce, and i think thats it for the motor, i want to port it for more top and rebuild the top end and put new reeds in my vforce, will that help any? oh yea, and would i have to rejet it for porting or would it make that much difference?

Yes, porting and a fresh topend will definately help, and YES you will have to rejet.
Also, Higher RPMs = Harder to ride and more maintenance.

Have you tried regearing it?

no, i dont no how to gear it really, i mean i do... but i dont know what to put on it, and it has lots of bottom, i dont care if it takes away some, how much would i have to rejet for? pilot? main? up or down? how much? lol look at all those questions

And just about every single question really cant be answered by someone on here...gearing and jetting are probably two of the biggest variables when it comes to dirt bikes(besides suspension) and youll get a different answer from everyone...you need to find what bests suits you and your riding style by trial and error...its the best way youll ever learn!! I would start with a fresh top end, a mild port job, then go from there...who ever does the port work im sure would be able to help you better with your jetting issues.

its mainly in 1st 2nd and 3rd, it lacks top alot in those gears, but in 4th 5th and 6th it has a bunch???

Try on or two teeth less on the rear sproket.
