A Cannon Falls man was killed Wednesday evening at a moto-cross track in Goodhue County. A Sheriff's Department spokeswoman says 34-year old Jason Aamodt was riding a motorcycle on the Hurricane Hills track in rural Mazeppa when he collided with a tractor that was being used to groom the track. The tractor was being driven by Jeffrey Gray, who owns the facility. The two vehicles were going in opposite directions and Aamodt struck the blade at the front of the tractor. Officials say they had passed each other several times before the collision, which occurred on a hill that obstructed the vision of both men. Aamodt was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash was reported around 7pm...

A motocross rider was killed Wednesday at a racetrack in Mazeppa when he collided with equipment being pulled by an oncoming tractor.
Authorities said Jason Aamodt, 25, Cannon Falls, was heading counter-clockwise at 7 p.m. on Hurricane Hills’ dirt track when he approached the tractor.
The two vehicles were apparently out of view of one another until Aamodt’s motorcycle crested a hill just in front of the tractor, driven by Hurricane Hills owner Jeffery Gray, 33, Mazeppa.
Aamodt landed on a grooming blade being pulled by the tractor, Goodhue County Sheriff spokesperson Chris Weiss said.
He was found dead on the scene by Zumbrota ambulance personnel, Weiss said.
According to reports, both Aamodt and Gray were aware that one another was on the track and had passed each other before the accident.
Alcohol was not involved in the crash, Weiss said.
A list of participants on the track’s Web site, www.hurricanehills.com, displays a Jason A. Aamodt as co-leader in the 2006 Cyclone Series “Vet B” category.
Attempts to contact Gray on Thursday were unsuccessful. A message on the track’s answering service said the track was closed on Thursday.
According to its Web site, Hurricane Hills — located between Zumbrota and Mazeppa on 232nd Avenue — plays host to frequent races on its winding track. The track also allows open-track practicing Tuesday through Sunday.
