Mods With Stock Pipe

My current setup is as follows, 01 KDX220R removed airbox baffle only, Boyensen two-stage Power reeds, stock pipe and silencer, stock carb set up. I was thinking of removing the airbox lid. Will the airbox mod work well with the stock pipe/silencer setup? Does anyone have these specific mods on a 220 and what do you think? I'm not ready to spend $ on a new pipe just yet. I ride tight rocky woods to wide open dirt roads. Thanks. :cool:

I cut off all of the lid except where the black box mounts and that helped out a good bit, especially down low. At the time that was the only mod I had done. I now have the rev pipe installed and that made a HECKUVA difference.
