Hey everybody!!! I have been going steady with a great girl for quite some time now, and all of the sudden she tells me she has mono, or "the kissing disease", as some call it. Ihave been researching it, but have not been able to find out if she is contagious if i kiss her on the lips. I know this sounds dorky, we have gone out for like 3 months and we have not kissed on the lips yet!! I always kiss her on the cheek. Sorry i have to post this here, but i really need to know!! THE FINAL QUESTION IS: CAN MONO BE TRANSMITTED THROUGH KISSING MY GIRLFRIEND? Thank you for all the help

MONO SUCKS........imagine being the most tired you have ever been and live that way for a month. i was a freshman in high school when i got it and it almost killed me. i got it during football season and my mom just thought i was trying to adjust to high school. i slept everytime i got still. i went through those 4 hr practices with what seemed like 100lbs of lead strapped to my legs not to mention the games. they finally figured it out but it had all but run its course. i felt so bad that i didnt even play basketball. i hate to say it but i didnt get it from a sweetie. its pretty contaigous though. seems like the doc said i could of got it from drinking after someone on a water fountain.

if you start feeling bad.........get to a doctor right away.

Mono sux!! I had it as a junior in high school, I had NEVER been so tired in my life...I don't know how I got it, as I had a steady boyfriend at the time and he didn't have it. I think I slept 2 months of my life away during that time...

Is it true that once you've had mono you can't get it again?

Mono is bad!

:flame: My daughter has had it several times and with it twice was strep. It had her run down so bad she was in the hospital for a week the second time. It's very contagious and should not be taken lightly. Not to mention expensive. Once you've had it, it becomes easier to get too. And if she's still got her tonsils, have her get them out, strep and mono seem to lurk there waiting to be released. Since my daughter got her tonsils out, she hasn't had strep or mono again. She had mono 3 years in a row and strep twice, we had her tonsils removed and that was it, 3 years since her last round of strep/mono. My 2 cents worth.
