Ventana Marble Peak. Ive been riding for about 15 years here in
northern Ca. Bay area to be exact. I just bought a KDX last year
and for some reason I just cant seem to enjoy riding my mtb
anymore. Whenever I ride my mtb I wish I were on my dirt bike.
What I think is pretty crazy is using mountain bikes for crosstraining. I aways find myself running overthings that can only be done on 40hp+ dirtbike, and busting my A$$.

I find that anything I can do on my mtb or bmx bike, I can do twice as good on my dirtbike. Picking a line on a downhill with 3" of travel is a lot more critical that with 12". Maybe like me, you get tired of having to peddle back up the hill. I have a group of friends from each type of racing and riding that I do. When I am with them I don't think about the other sports because I am having too much fun. Try to get a group of friends to ride together, it helps alot. The only time I wish i had my bike is when I am too tired to peddle home
I preffer bxm bikes to moutain bikes. To me there alot more fun. I switch the brake levers around to simulate a dirtbike. I also think that body position on a 20" is closer to that of a full size dirtbike.
Reminds me of a very long lunch hour last fall - I had done my normal ride to the top of the downhill and stopped on my way back down to put on my sweatshirt cause I was getting chilly. A couple riders passed me on the way, I readjusted my cellphone on my waistband and headed down the hill to get back to my truck and head back to the office.
Got to the truck, pulled off the cellphone and my keys which I always attach to the cellphone were GONE! I figured I had lost them when I was putting on my sweatshirt so I peddled back up and there they were.
I was so happy that they were only 3/4 of the way up the hill because I was tired and very late! Oops.
I guess I don't mind the mountain bike because at least I'm still able to be out on the trails and having fun - lunchhour isn't long enough to get to a place for dirtbiking so it beats the alternative like the treadmill or eliptical trainer in the office gym!
