I've been looking all over the place and can't come up with the Miles Per Gallon for my 03 kx 250 2stroke. The factory service manual only gives the tank capacity but not the actual mpg. If anyone can give me an answer
I would really appreciate it, thank you. :ride:

also, does anyone know or heard of a computer for dirt/motorcros/enduro bikes? the ones like the road bicycle use, that reads millage, speed, trip distance, altitude etc..?
I was thinking of somehow clamping the one from my road bicycle to my kx 250. I know the mid range bicycle computers run about 30-50 dlls. If there is dirtbike computers, do you know a general price range?
thanks,

MPG is tough to judge. Obviously riding conditions can change it.

One huge factor will also be float height. We lose a lot of gas out of the overflow when on bumpy terrain.

A fough guess would be 15-20 mpg in average conditions. Jetting changes things as well.

As the EPA clearly says..."Your results may vary." Oh wait, that was for Viagra. Watch out for the 4 hour erections.

The MPG would hugely vary with any given terrain or jetting. A well tuned dez rider is going to get much better mileage than a spooging enduro rider will.

Runtime/Gallons would be a more valid comparison than MPG. I get almost 10 Hrs out of 5 gallons on my 125sx riding mixed terrain.

i have a question. why are you concerned about the mpg on a dirtbike? ya i dont know what the mpg is sorry.

some of us who race enduros need to know the estimated range on our 2 strokes b/c we need to be able to plan for gas stops. for instance, on the pipe, most of our racers on 250F's can get about 40 miles....so when there is 44 miles between a start and the first available gas, those guys need to plan to have someone on the course somewhere or carry a small gatorade bottle of gas.

Gearing will also have a drastic effect on MPG. The best thing to do would be fill up, ride a long known distance, and measure how much juice it takes to refill. Then do the math. This is one case where we can learn from the NASCAR boys, they weigh their gas cans before and after pit stops so they know exactly how much fuel they dumped in, then they can accurately predict their range. It sucks when they come up half a lap short, but that's how close they will push it.

I get about 15-16 mpg when riding hard and around 20 when just dong some leisure riding on my 250. Those numbers are based on someone elses odometer reading and measuring how much gas it takes to top off between fill ups.
