Hey all,
I just bought a bike the other day and I thought I'd tell you about it and see what you guys think.
I bought a 91 CR 500 from this guy in his mid 40's...it was in seemingly really good shape with only several problems - the front rim had a dent in it and the engine had no compression. He had had the engine rebored to become either a 510 or a 520. Well, it was his 4th or 5th ride on a cold day, screaming wide open on this new piston when it just died...he was convinced that he had somehow burned a hole in it or something...and gave up. Just put it in his garage where its sat for the last 3-4yrs. Well, I called some people at proshops and they were convinced that the problem wasnt a burned out piston, but that it was simply a stuck ring and that'd itd only cost about 25 bucks to replace (well, along with gaskets)...So I bought it from this guy for only 1000 bucks. I took it down to the proshop and its being looked at right now...and when the tech saw it and found out what I paid for it, he was just chuckling with glee. I guess its in that good a shape. Anyhow, after putting new bars and some other goodies on it, I'll have invested about 1300 bucks total.
