I stripped a friends forks the other day-heres what i found.
Base valve is indentical to 01-still has bleed shims.
Midvalve now has a bleed shim to hold the midvalve off the piston by 0.1mm-this allows a bit of extra bleed before the stack opens up.The midvalve is softer than 01.
Fork springs are rated at 0.44 which are stupid stiff for a 125 i put on 0.42s for 170lb rider.
Oil level is lower this year to counteract the stiffer springs-i set it at 110mm.
Overall the 02 fork is better than the 01 but only because of the midvalve changes and oil heights.
Removing the bleed shims on the base valve made a small difference but even with softer springs i didnt think they were soft enough. Revalving the forks is needed for lighter riders IMO.
