In theory, the tires mentioned above have long knobs which can bend over under extreme forces, but I didn't notice a problem with that...the fact that it's cold and the rubber is stiff doesn't hurt any. Kold Kutters etc are nice but if you are on a budget, plain old sheet metal screws work too. Of course, experimenting with tire pressure is always a good thing.
