I am currently looking for a new dirt bike. My current dirt bike that I have is a 1975 Kawasaki F7 that used to be my grandpas and then it was given to my dad and now it is mine, it is 175cc dirt bike and i think it is time for me to upgrade. I am about 6 feet 2 inches and about 185 pounds. I want to get a 250cc 2 stroke but my friends think that would be too much power for me to handle and they strongly suggest that I get a 125cc 2 stroke. What do you guys think i should get?

Dude! Im 6' 175lbs and I ride a 1975 Yamaha DT400. That, my friend, is a BIG old school bike. Its a monster and its LOADED with power.

As long as you can muscle it around and you know how to adjust your weight, you can ride as big of a bike as you want.

Go big or go home!

It's YOUR bike, so YOU get to pick not your friends. My son is 5'-10" and 125 pounds and his bike is a CR125 and I would have no issue letting ride a 250 or bigger.

It really depends on your experience. If you have been riding for several years, you could probably handle a 250. If you have been riding a few months...maybe not. My advise would be to ride a 250 and find out for yourself. You should fill out the "sticky" at the top of this forum page for more info.

If you have been riding that DT-175 then I would expect you to have enough experience to handle a 250 two stroke.

If you haven't been riding the 175 for very long then I would stick with it for a few more trips, then get a 250 2t

If I was you I would hang on to that F7, you might enjoy getting it out and riding it every once in a while.
