I just bought a friend's 1998 CR80. I'm completely new to the world of dirt bikes and am clueless on repairs/maintenance. On my second ride with the bike I started to have some problems shifting. I would grab the clutch hard and shift and then give it gas while laying off the clutch but there was a streak of time when while I was getting out of 1st gear it would go to neutral. After that I became much more conscious of my shifts and made sure that I didn't have any pressure on the clutch lever while laying off the clutch/giving gas and didn't have any more problems. Should I be concerned? It was really muddy and I was covered in mud afterwards. As a note after riding I had to literally pick dirt/grass out of the (i'm sorry i don't know the name ) part where the chain would go into. Is my clutch going bad or do you think it was just the dirt? If the clutch is going bad how much am I looking at putting into this $1000 bike I just bought?
