Last year I really wanted to buy this bike, however, I knew that I was not ready to ride a 2 stroke then. So, instead, a friend of ours bought it and let me ride it a few times during the year. The last time I rode it, I fell in love--that was in November. It was a cold (35-40 degrees) day and the ground was mostly frozen, but snotty in places. I actually did very well on it that day and surprised myself. After that our friend has insisted that I buy it from him (so he can get another new one, of course). Anyhow, we carved out the deal and sealed it last night.

I am now going to be the proud new owner of a 1999 KTM 200 MXC. I guess it has all this trick stuff on it (like I would know what that stuff is for), and looks and rides very cool. Maybe Bob will jump on and give you all the details, as he is much more knowledgeable than I about this. The only thing I will have to buy is bark busters and a clutch guard. I am sooooooo excited, I can hardly contain myself!! Next month we are going to Oklahoma/Texas to do some riding and I cannot wait!!

WooHoo!!

As far as the "trick" stuff on the bike, it does have a Pro Circuit pipe and silencer, Applied racing 18mm offset triple clamps for quicker turning, revalved suspension, and beautiful gold excell rims, gold talon hubs and bulldog spokes (very cool wheels). We'll pick it up this weekend and I'll get a better look at it, but it's clean and very trick looking. She should enjoy it. It feels tight and in good shape.

Anne, excellent choice! You'll be amazed at what a difference "suspension" can make! ;)

Hmm. Another female KTM rider. I think we'll have to start our own club!

Lee,

Ohh I know how those pre '96 XR's are, I just sold my 95 XR today. I am jumping up to a 98 KX250 and I think the best part is the weight! The KX feels like it weighs nothing and has more power then I will ever need. Enjoy your new ride!

Way to go Anne :) (btw belated greetings for your birthday and congrats on selling the ol' girl).

I think I'm going to have to find a KTM200 to test ride to see what the heck you gals are so interested in them for, but they're definitely flavour of the day ;)

As I was waiting for this thread to open, I was trying to guess what bike you'd gotten - SX, MXC or EXC - I lost, I guessed EXC. Congratulations though & pictures when you've got a chance (plus of course the obligatory first ride report ;))

Yep, and you'll have lots more fun in that deep sand pit down at Buffalo Range, too!

Thanks, Michelle----on both counts! Yes, you definitely need to ride the KTM 200---it is a fun bike and not heavy at all!

Lori---I can't wait for that! I will actually be able to stay on top of the sand instead of sinking into it and struggle to stay on the bike!!

Where in TX will you be riding ?, any chance of going through Amarillo, we could take a ride at the Canadian river.

Congrats on the new bike, you will be very happy.

If you get on down this way, you may ride the Pamapera 280 :debil:

I can't imagine any other bike...

Imagine a Gas Gas 300 EC, scale it down 1/3 add a 280 trials engine, a 34" seat height, a first time kick start, the handling of a GG 200EC, and the fun factor of a TTR125/150, and you get ........a very  bike.

Also the blue and black color scheme - way

Unfortunately not. :( Too many things going on with an impending move and all, but it looks like we'll be out there for the one in St. Louis. I'd also like to try and get to the one in New Orleans. You have any plans to attend either one of those?

I've ridden once at Draper Lake. Prepare to be scraping red clay-like mud/dirt off your bike for months to come! ;)

I can't wait to find out how you like your new bike. Too bad you and Lori can't come out to Reno with your bikes. We would have quite the group of women on KTMs! :)
