Need some advice on a new clutch. I do not possess strong mechanical knowledge. But I think my clutch is going. My question is, does this mean I can just get a clutch kit and replace the plates? Or do you have to repalce the hub, pressure plate and basket? (Don't let the parts fool you, I got all this from the Hinson site).

I've heard of many going with a Hinson basket. Can you just do a plate kit and the basket? Does the basket really make a difference or do you have to get the hub and pressure plate too, which is very expensive.

Thanks, Doug

You can usually check through the oil filler hole if the outer basket is notched.
If its not and the inner hub looks ok too(where the plain plates engage),its usually enough to change the fiber discs. If you have got a manual you can measure the plates and check if they are under the limit, same with the spring length. After too many bad experiences with aftermarket plates,I always use OEM....
