Do you mean for road use? For your basic yz/cr/kx/rm the simple answer is no.

In order to register a bike you need a title with the bike. In the NJ (perhaps the entire US), when you buy a bike that is intended for off-road use you get a certificate of origin. I understand that bikes bought in Canada have a title.

If you buy a Japanese bike, it can be done but is almost imposible...there are a few dealers that will get it done for you if you purchase a new bike from them.  If you buy a European bike, it is very easy to register.  Both of my bikes....KTM(made in Austria)and Cannondale(Made in Pennsylvania) were easily registered.  Check the Certificate of Origin, or title, and if it says "for off road use only", or "closed course riding only" you are out of luck......if it doesn't say this on the title, chances are you will have no problem.
