I have a 02' KDX 220R. It is the first time I have owned/operated an enduro type of bike. Is first and seconed gear realy low? or is it just my bike. I've owned MX bikes and the gears rev up the motor more. I find that I am changing the first two gears fast, then once in third I can let it rip? Anyone know what I am talking about?
First off what mods have been done to the bike (pipe, reeds, jets etc?) secondly what gearing are you running? ie how many teeth on the front and rear sprockets?
There is a big difference between your 220 and a MX bike. The first and second gears are designed to be low for tight trail riding. There are mods you can do to get more rev, but a 220 is built to be a trail bike. It depends on the type of riding you do, but if you want more rev and want to go fast, buy a MX bike or spend more money on mods.
