I just bought a 2000 Yamaha 426yzf and im having problems starting the mutt the previous owner says to press the kick till you hit a hard point press the decomp leaver, let it go along with the kickher n then kick it n it should start but youll have to get use to it ???? WTF?? is it always this hard to start a 2000 Yamaha 426yzf? and any other tips to get her goin?

The short answer is yes. All early big Yamahas seemed to be a pain to start. My XR650R can be a pain as well. There is a drill to starting the beast and it will take a Yamaha rider to tell you the drill for your bike.

I would suggest putting a post in the General Bike Repair forum as the mod there had a 426. He can probably enlighten you on the procedure.
