My son just blew his 05 RM85 last weekend. Bought him an RM85L (big wheel) , This is a little big for him. Is it possible to put his smaller tires on the big wheel with no problems? He rides good but because he can barely touch he has cornering problems, so looses alot of time on corners... the swing arm on the big wheel is only about 1-11/2 inches biger than the RM85... THANKS>..

I don't see any reason why the wheel swap wouldn't work.

You might want to swap the swingarm, too.

Just out of curiosity, why didn't you just fix the other bike?

Why not just cut down the seat foam? Cheap and easy to undo later.

Yes you can switch the 14/17 inch wheels from a RM85 to a big wheel RM frame. I have seen lots of riders that do this. The longer swingarm gives the bike better stability and doesn't wheelie as much out of the gate. A lot of the top amatuers are running the 16" back wheel with a 17" front wheel on the longer swing arm (big wheel) bikes.

Hmmm, that's interesting.

Thats what I thought. I have seen riders try to get away with that in WI, only to get dq'd. I was looking at buying a 15" rear wheel, but haven't made up my mind yet. I do believe the 15" rear is legal, but a 16"??? I am not so sure about that.
Plus the longer swingarm too.
There was a bike on E-bay last week that was set up like this for sale in Florida. The guy was open about what it was and why he ran it like that.
I guess that not all states/districts run with the same rules as my area does.
I don't really know how many kids are riding mod bikes, but my guess would be a lot.

I would like to see some pics of a long swingarm, large rear wheel and small front wheel set up if anyone has run across them. Sounds like a good off road combination. Would the seat be too tall in the rear?

Where can you get a 15" tire?
