new to dirt bikes

I am looking at giving up on snowmobiles and going to dirt I have a rode bike (Harley) and want a new toy I am trying to sell my 2 sleds Yamaha's 2001 SXR700 triple an a 1997 600 XT twin if I sell them soon I am looking at an XR650R. I want to be able to ride it to the trails (sick of trailering and too expensive anymore) So if anybody has tips on making the XR street legal please advise. I have rode dirt before mostly Quads Honda 250R. Live in Lapeer county Michigan

Welcome to DRN. You should have no problem with getting a dual sport bike in Mich. Check out the Local Chapters Forum, there are some very active members in your area. Great people to boot. They just finished Trailfest and I'm going to see if I can make it next year.

call a salvage yard - and get everything off of a xr- l to make it legal
its prolly cheeper just to buy a xr650l used
