Hello members
I need some quick advice, I am considering 2 different bikes at the same price. A little history Ihave owned a KTM 125 EXC Two Honda Cr 250's and I am 165ilbs 58 years old i felt best on the KTM but Sold it recently and have regreted it since. My question is there are 2 bikes for sale a 99 Kawasaki KX 250 built to 265cc's a beast to kick over and a 2002 Honda CR 125 I only have been riding Dirt bikes for a year. I also own Street bikes that I have ridden for over 25 years. I plan to use the bike as a Trail bike i need your advice which bike should i get KX 250 or Cr 125??

Thanks for your help

Well, since you have already owned 2 250 2-strokes, you would probebley(sp?) be better off with the KX250 because your used to the power. But unless you don't want to go that fast or have all that power and just like to putts around then get the CR125. You did say you were most confortable on the 125 2-stroke, Then if i were you, i would get the 125, You can be confortable on it, It is newer, And it can be upgraded to go faster.

Are those the only two bikes you have a choice of? It sounds like you really don't need a hi strung mx'er and a more mellow bike would better suit you. If you are stuck on one of those two bikes I would get the CR250. It should have more bottom end than the 125. If you are open to other suggestions I would look at some of the 4 strokes for trail riding. Any of the new 250f's would be good. Also don't rule out something like a KDX, still has the 2 stroke snap but great on the trails.

get the 250. Two strokes are not hard to kick over.
Obviously 02yz426f, isn't 51+ I have a '97 KX250 and love the thing. After rebuilding my sons '05 YZ250 I'd like to have thrown my knee out kicking the thing. My KX compression is low (more like riding a 175) and the YZ250 fresh is a beast. I'd suggest the KX250... it'll run cooler, last longer and will do every and anything you want. I've read about the 13oz flywheel weights... my plans are to freshen my KX250 and go to the weights.

Regardless which you decide welcome back... and trust me, don't think you'll jump on and pick up where you left off... older is smarter and for me I find myself riding a gear higher than I would have been 20 years back... safer that way.
