I would like to nickel plate my stock 125 pipe, which at present is black paint worn off to metal in some places. What would be the best way to prepare it? Sandblasting to bare metal? Would I need any other treatment? (There is a bit of rust on it, but not too embedded) Also, is it possible to plate steel frames? Thanks for any advice.

GasGas bikes come stock with nickel plated chromoly steel frames, seems to be pretty durable as well. Don't know what the preparation involved for this is but I know it is do-able. How are you planning on plating the pipe?

I'm not sure yet Jeff - I need to call a plating company to find out. I guess if they can do frames the pipe should be straight forward.

I wonder if anyplace in the states does this type of work, I like the look of the frame on my GasGas and when I get another bike (preferably a four stroke) I'd like to have it done for the new one also. Probably wouldn't be worth the hassle but it looks nice :)
