I recently got an old mx80 and it was running very well, then 1 afternoon i went to ride it and when i hold it at full throtle the engine just dies. I have tryed the spark plug, points, cleaned out the carby, it has full compression and sparks, If u can could u help me cure the problem with my bike??

I answered the other post but you could verify that it is fuel related by going to WOT with the choke on. If the bike revs but does not rev when the choke is off then your main jet is clogged. try and get back.

Also check timing. I've seen the stator rotate on older bikes. It sounds like your not getting fuel up top.


BUT, I did see a fairly similar symptom once where the bike would start fine and idle but when reved up it would dump out up top. The stator was bad. I used a megger to check the stator and resistance to ground would go low only under a megger. Using a regular DVOM resistance was good.
